  A client can now pass newTab: true to navigate, and read shellBaseUrl / resolveShellUrl to render an <a href target="_blank"> that lands where that call would. A host opts in by handling newTab in its navigate and, for the declarative half, by implementing the new optional ShellNavigation.resolveUrl.

  Two behaviour changes ride along in the same release:

  • an absolute http(s) path is no longer prefixed with the app’s base path when the payload is not marked external; it is left alone
  • both NAVIGATE handlers now call the navigation.navigate of the latest render instead of the one captured when the app’s iframe was set up

  The client also pins its bus to the embedding origin where the browser reports it, and ignores a shellBaseUrl that is not an http(s) url on that origin. With config.isDev set, it warns when it is given an eventBus but no basePath, since its links would then drop the base path navigate keeps.

  The shell drops any query string and hash from the url resolveUrl returns, and resolveUrl may now return undefined. Closing a rich modal through the shell also releases the modal’s buses and iframe. ui-shell-dev opens only http(s) urls in a new tab.

  A client can now pass newTab: true to navigate, and read shellBaseUrl / resolveShellUrl to render an <a href target="_blank"> that lands where that call would. A host opts in by handling newTab in its navigate and, for the declarative half, by implementing the new optional ShellNavigation.resolveUrl.

  Two behaviour changes ride along in the same release:

  • an absolute http(s) path is no longer prefixed with the app’s base path when the payload is not marked external; it is left alone
  • both NAVIGATE handlers now call the navigation.navigate of the latest render instead of the one captured when the app’s iframe was set up

  The client also pins its bus to the embedding origin where the browser reports it, and ignores a shellBaseUrl that is not an http(s) url on that origin. With config.isDev set, it warns when it is given an eventBus but no basePath, since its links would then drop the base path navigate keeps.

  The shell drops any query string and hash from the url resolveUrl returns, and resolveUrl may now return undefined. Closing a rich modal through the shell also releases the modal’s buses and iframe. ui-shell-dev opens only http(s) urls in a new tab.
